her heart will be a mistress to no one
she must be all that breathes life into you
or she will disappear
is it her past that carved the ravines
so deep and soft edged
that echo of the cello
slow and somber
until you think you'll shatter from the exquisiteness of her
the longing in her eyes that makes you linger near
sad seductive eyes, almonds of kiwi and amber
her smell is on your hands
pressed into you now
the soft taste of her tongue
all that is mango and mint
makes you smile and want more
tempted to fix the broken and the tangled she bears
you try to walk the thin line of her fertile soil
that keeps you from falling off the precipice of her world
but then she wouldn't be all that lured you in
without her sorrow, her seductive
might she be a drug to you now
a habit to beat, a vein to bleed her out
or the answer to every promise, pause, hope
every skipped heart beat
before it was ever born
the curve of her back as she sleeps
beckons you to reach for her
her hair, her skin
she smells of soap and sleep
what is the sense in trying
she is the madness that keeps your blood humming
that rights all that was wrong before she came
reaching out
your fingers fall loosely in her hair
your head smoothes close to hers
your limbs
wrap into hers
and the peace of her breathing
lulls you to sleep
lulls you
to love her
